Supermarket Refrigeration Technician

 

Kalos Services is hiring an EMS Technician with a strong background in supermarket refrigeration controls, HVAC control systems, and construction-focused EMS installation. We're looking for someone who thrives in the field, has a deep understanding of building automation systems, and can help bring new construction and retrofit EMS projects to life.

 

You’ll work closely with our controls and refrigeration install teams to lay out, wire, commission, and support energy management systems on some of the most demanding and high-performance grocery and retail projects across the region.

 

Job Type & Schedule

Variable shifts, typically 7 am – 4 pm for days and 9 pm – 6 am for nights. Exact hours may vary based on project needs.

 

Compensation

$31–38/hour, depending on prior years of experience

 

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and commission EMS systems during construction and startup phases.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, riser schematics, and control drawings.
  • Pull low-voltage cable, terminate controllers, and connect sensors, relays, and interfaces.
  • Work with platforms like Emerson E2, Danfoss, CPC, Novar, Honeywell, or similar.
  • Coordinates with refrigeration and HVAC teams during equipment startup and controls tuning.
  • Ensure proper data points are reporting, alarms are functional, and systems are communicating.
  • Identify installation issues in the field and work with PMs and engineers to resolve them.
  • Provide documentation and field reports during project turnover.

 

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of (3-5) years Supermarket Refrigeration and/or EMS controls. Honeywell and/or Copeland experience is a plus.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the Refrigeration and HVAC cycle
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues over the phone and collaborate on effective solutions in real-time.
  • Comfortable installing conduit, sensors, and low-voltage terminations from scratch.
  • Experience commissioning or troubleshooting platforms like Emerson E2, Danfoss, or Novar.
  • Able to read and interpret construction blueprints and control schematics.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills – voltage, resistance, continuity, and communication protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel within Florida and occasionally out-of-state for special projects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly with or without an accommodation.
